Persona

Statement: A question that always nags at me is “Why the fuck am I like this?”. Why do I see the world the way I do and make the decisions that I make? I am confounded by what makes us who we are, what forms the personas that we wear. Family and generations of being human have sculpted me into what I am. All of the aspects and experiences of being a human, good and bad, make us who we are. I wanted to depict the distorted memories of those who have created me. The work is meant to peel back the layers of perception of both myself and the people closest to me; to decipher the dark fog that clouds memories and the stories from generations past. This series is my exploration of “why” I wear my own persona and why many others also wear a mask. I’m trying to stitch together all that I can find, and hopefully my search helps others to clear their own fog.
